Make your own special Gingerbread Spice Mix with these 6 awesome ingredients!
I never really thought about making my own gingerbread spice, that’s probably mostly because I thought it would be too complicated…
But luckily it is not! The secret is (even though it’s actually no secret at all) to simply mix together the right amount of different spices. For me, baking makes so much more fun with homemade ingredients and especially for Christmas this gingerbread spice mix is a must-have 🙂
Yesterday I decided to make myself a gingerbread latte when I realized that there was no gingerbread spice left at home. So I thought why not make some of it yourself and try it out? We always buy it from the supermarket but it is so much better and satisfying to have your own spice at home. We also happen to have the ingredients at home all the time! This might not be the case for all kitchens out there, but we are crazy about spices.
Six ingredients are all you need for your spice mix
All you need for this recipe are six different ingredients. I suggest you buy them already ground as this makes it so much easier for you. When you buy the spices as whole you need a good blender to ground them and I do not think that it makes the gingerbread spice mix less good or that the flavor is not that strong when you buy already ground spices. But you can try it out either way and see what works best for you.
