As the topic of climate change and sustainability gets more attention and people are getting more interested in how to live more eco-friendly I thought I’d share my favorite cleaning product “recipes” with you.

We are using these self-made cleaning products for a while now in our household and I can say with confidence that we are not missing any of the store-bought versions. Have you tried making your own yet? If not or if you are in doubt then maybe these aspects change your mind!

Here are some positive aspects of making your own eco-friendly cleaning products:

  • it is so easy to make them, you just have to mix a few ingredients together, shake them and there you go!
  • it is so much cheaper! Sure, at first you have to “invest” in a few affordable basics like vinegar or citric acid but you can make so many batches from these products and safe so much money long-term.
  • it helps save the environment! These cleaning products only contain natural ingredients, no chemically and polluting substances. This is not only good for our waters but also for our skin and respiratory system, because while cleaning we normally breathe in these particles of the chemical products
  • Last but not least: THEY WORK JUST AS GOOD AS the store-bought products!

In this post for making your own cleaning products part 1, I’m going to show you how to make an all-purpose cleaner and a glass cleaner.

The vinegar and citric acid work amazing as a softening agent. I did not use the citric acid for the glass cleaner, because it leaves streaks on the glass. For the all-purpose cleaner, I added some lemon oil to neutralize the smell of the vinegar, but this is just optional.
